Homelessness and Social Inclusion

Homelessness and social inclusion services are offered to people experiencing social breakdown, addiction and poverty, or at risk of such situations. These outreach services are based on a harm reduction approach and include prevention, psychosocial intervention, support in personal procedures and assistance and referral to services.

WILLIE’S PLACE – RESPITE CENTRE

Chez Willie is a safe, high-acceptance respite facility where people are welcomed in caring, safe and non-judgmental conditions.

The goal of Willie’s Place is to reinforce the safety net for people experiencing homelessness and social exclusion.

  • From 1 to 4 pm and from 5 to 9 pm

ASSISTANCE FOR HOUSING

The Friendship Centre offers services to find and keep a home for members of the Indigenous community who live in very precarious conditions.

This assistance consists of offering and coordinating personalized services, particularly in the areas of food security, health and justice.

Assistance provided:

  • Development of life skills (cooking, hygiene, budget, life routine, etc.)
  • Personalised procedures (health, employability, food bank, therapy centre, etc.)

The Centre offers support to community members in understanding, completing or submitting administrative documents to governments or other institutions.

INDIVIDUAL ASSISTANCE

The Centre offers individual assistance to members who are experiencing difficulties in their daily lives as well as support to move towards wellness.

The team also liaises with various partners to ensure that members receive all the services they need and resolve crisis situations.

  • Emergency food aid
  • Assistance with different services (e.g. health, justice, housing, etc.)
  • Screening for STIs or chronic diseases
  • Therapy referral
  • Support when leaving an institution (prison, youth centre, etc.)

Support Groups

Support groups are groups open to all that allow people to break isolation, share experiences and connect with others. These circles are supported by a team of mixed intervention workers who, depending on the type of need, will enable participants to find answers to some of their personal challenges.
